La Team WAB a écrit: | We are very proud to bring you all, the wab ms launcher 2.5b sources.
We hope you will learn a lot with this code and perhaps build your own
launcher from this.
Thank to psp-dev for faireplay
Since now, we pause all our psp developpemnt.
We need to think about re-organition of internal work
(two leak in less than 2 weeks)
Keep the scene clean....
See ya....

Citation: | <djp-> So, how do you feel about the PSP being hacked so quickly after the USA release date?
<AloneTrio> This is actualy my first project in the console scene, so I am not to familiar with the history of consoles, the only thing I have done before console wise were some intro's for PSX and Xbox
<djp-> I see, so this is pretty much a whole new experience for you.
<AloneTrio> It seem's that all skilled ppl are making an effort to help hack the psp and make the homebrew scene ( loser_, oopo, mrbrown,etc..) with their legal toolchain and PSPSdk
<djp-> Yes, the PSP Dev scene has grown rapidly
<djp-> You guys are making big moves in the PSP scene with your loaders, Can you tell us anything about V3?
<AloneTrio> At first i was a part of the oldschool WAB Demo Team. I had a big demo for psp, with main menu ( already coded ) and I planed to invite all coder's to take part in the project project coding a little screen for the demo. So i needed to code a route that could make it capable to run other .elf's from the main menu. Here is where wab launcher v1 is born.
<AloneTrio> Now it seem that ppl want play Games ( that they legaly own) to play from their memory stick
<AloneTrio> So I delayed the demo release to give more effort on the V3 game launcher
<AloneTrio> but
<AloneTrio> I delayed the V3 release date because, rumors said that the ps2nfo guys got hands on my "v3 internal", and rumor was confirmed by the announcement of their own launcher.
<AloneTrio> So I will wait until ps2nfo release's there "loader", and I will disassemble it, then release WAB V3 WITH source code, and show ppl, who are the fake's
<djp-> So with the release being delayed, why dont you guys just implement something else to prove to the world that it is actualy yours in a hidden fashion?
<djp-> Yea, that will shut them up
<djp-> Do you guys feel a media center will come into play? Like XBMC did for the XBOX?
<AloneTrio> I think if it goes, it wont be from our team, we have already started a new project, "wab psp linux" directed by gimli, the Dr of the debian port on xbox.
<djp-> Do you think streaming .iso from our computer's or another media device will be capable in the future?
<AloneTrio> If you want the real scoop, a tool will come soon too, that rip's umd, not on your ms, but directly to your pc, through USB so I think streaming will be possible by the same way.
<djp-> sounds sweet
<djp-> last question
<djp-> How do you guys feel about the stuff that PS2NFO is pulling on the scene right now renaming and retagging other peoples hard work?
<AloneTrio> Like I said I am in console scene for not that long and I never even heard of ps2nfo before but when I seen what they do with false info etc.. I really think they are like pspupdate, I mean ONLY HERE TO COLLECT HITS FOR ADVERTISEMENT.
<djp-> thanks man i really appreciate the interview
<djp-> is there anything that i missed that you would like to cover?
<AloneTrio> Just to say, that even if I am new in console scene
<AloneTrio> I am 31 years old and involved in demo scene since good old amiga/atari war
<djp-> thanks, we really are looking foward to your v3 released
<djp-> one more question i forgot to ask
<djp-> is the loader gonna require the umd still in the drive still?
<AloneTrio> NO |
et pis une note de TeamXecuter:
Citation: | For some time now we have been working hard on a PSP hack. If you remember we never said it was a modchip or anything that could boot dumped games or homebrew (currently you have psp-dev and the WAB team to thank for these breakthroughs). In fact what we designed was our own development hardware to tap into every aspect of the PSP, from the Memory Stick port through to its NAND flash memory and infrastructure.
As there are more and more homebrew applications and games and other exciting developments within the growing PSP scene there is obviousley a need for more storage - and with that comes a heavy price. The cost of a 2Gb DUO memory stick can cost over $400 !
However, what if you could use a Smart Media Card, Compact Flash Card, SD Card, USB Flash Drive or even a USB HDD !
Well it's possible. We are developing a simple plug in device where you can expand the PSP Memory Stick Port to connect to several other memory devices, thus saving massive costs and giving you a multitude of storage options for your PSP no matter what you wish to play with be it games, web browsers, ebooks, music players, media managers and much more !
Using this same development kit we have been able to downgrade v1.52 / v1.51 down to v1.50 or even a v1.00 with no problems whatsoever. We can also tell you its easily possible to patch the kernel to be able to boot anything you like without any type of software loader. It can be acheived in both a modchip AND a non-modchip form so no doubt teams like WAB and others will have solutions for you in the coming weeks as the methods to achieve this are indeed known by others - we are simply confirming its very possible. Before anyone makes a rumour - no Xecuter is not doing any form of modchip for the PSP - it will be a waste of time as every patch can be achieved without the need for this. However maybe certain dealers will have capabilities to downgrade your PSP firmware for you - or to repair PSP's damaged by the over zealous hacker - who knows ?
On a final note good luck to teams like WAB and PSP-DEV - they are worth supporting. |

Citation: | Rumour: A downgrader has been released by WAB?
FALSE! WAB have simply released the decrypted PRX files from the 1.50 and 1.51 updates. These are just pieces of code which are responsible for performing the flash upgrade procedure and serve only for research into the file format of the PSAR file etc.
This DOES NOT let you downgrade your 1.51/1.52 and does not really get us any closer to being able to do this for the simple reason that before you can downgrade your 1.51/1.52 (without manually programming the PSP flash chip using a hardware based method) you must first be able to execute code on it, currently there is NO KNOWN way to execute code on these firmware versions.
Furthermore, what WAB has released is far from a breakthrough and not really anything new. Various people have had the upgrade PRX as well as many other encrypted PRX files (from flash, etc) decrypted for months. In fact, there is even publicly available code which will decrypt PRX files on the PS2Dev server and I wouldn't be surprised if this is what was used by WAB to get their decrypted files:
http://svn.ps2dev.org/filedetails.php?repname=psp&path=%2Ftrunk%2Fpspsdk%2Fsdk%2Fsamples%2Fdebug%2Fprxdecrypt%2Fmain.c&rev=0&sc=0
Rumor: If a method is found to downgrade my PSP I will be able to downgrade to 1.0 and both use homebrew and play all my games.
FALSE! If it ever becomes possible to downgrade to 1.0 then you will be able to use homebrew however the amount of games you will be able to use will become more limited as time goes on.
There are already games appearing which require 1.50 firmware to be installed and the number of games with a minimum firmware requirement is only going to grow. Eventually games will require something like 2.0 firmware before they will run meaning that in order to play these games you are going to need to give up the capability of running homebrew software (or hope that some sort of dual-flash system becomes possible in the future, or an exploit is found in recent firmware).
While it is possible to skip the flash version check performed by the PSP OS, this will not help you run a game if your firmware does not meet the requirement. For example, games which require at least 1.50 firmware import functions from the PSP kernel which are not found in the 1.0 firmware. If you attempt to run a 1.50 game on a 1.00 PSP then loading will fail due to these missing functions.
Conclusion
To summarise, downgrading your PSP firmware is not the solution we are looking for. The next batch of new releases are probably going to require your PSP to be updated to at least 1.52, and more recent firmware builds
will be getting released as needed by Sony in order to combat homebrew and/or piracy (and hopefully even add some new features.
Sure, new exploits may be found in future firmware releases but the security is only going to get tighter and eventually its going to get to the point where an exploit will not be found within the PSP's life cycle. Upgradeable firmware really was a smart decision for Sony to make since it is a great wayfor them to close off any holes which can potentially lead to homebrew and/or piracy. It looks like a hardware mod may be the only viable long-term solution, or possibly a hacked firmware. The possibility of a hacked firmware appearing is VERY SLIM due to the fact that all the executable code inside the PSP firmware is encrypted and currently ONLY Sony can perform the encryption.
It is very unlikely that any 3rd parties will ever be able to perform this encryption themselves. If you cant edit or inject your own code it makes hacked firmware very hard if not impossible. |
A mon avis on va pas voir ca de sitot.... |
