And the good news is that the year is not over yet, but the Power Rankings would be even sillier to continue on with.It is also an interesting philisophical time, where we can see whether a certain media outlet truly aligns their rankings with a team’s perceived strength in comparison to others, or just how they did/should do in a given year. Example: The Steelers are a very, very good team that missed the playoffs. Should their Power Ranking be exactly commensurate to their draft position, or should they jump over even some of the playoff teams? What does this have to do with the Chargers Nasir Adderley Los Angeles Chargers Jerseys , you ask?Well, the Chargers are, by all accounts, about the 2nd or 3rd best team in football right now. However, here we find them playing on Wildcard Weekend. Will their Power Ranking have them near the bottom of the 12, or will it be among the top 4—even if they are on the road next?USA Today1. I think it might be more helpful to take a look back at how the Chargers were ranked BEFORE week one of this season:According to Sports Illustrated’s staff voting, they were indeed considered to be playoff-bound Los Angeles Chargers Jerseys Stitched , but the 2018 Chargers steered to a better record than most expected. Not too shabby!Let’s compare that to the statistics for this week!Average Ranking:6.1Most Common Ranking: 6.0 & 7.0Average Ranking of Baltimore Ravens: 6.0Chargers Spread Vs. the Ravens: [+2.5]Top New Year’s Resolution:Save money (53%)Playoffs, here we come!-Jason “Secretly appreciates when full seasons fit snugly into complete calendar years” Michaels The NFLPA released cap rollover allocations for the upcoming year"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections San Diego Chargers Daily LinksSan Diego Chargers NewsSan Diego Chargers OffseasonSan Diego Chargers HistorySan Diego Chargers HumorLos Angeles Chargers NewsThe Chargers carry-over $1M unused cap space for 2019New,13commentsThe NFLPA released cap rollover allocations for the upcoming yearPSTShareTweetShareShareThe Chargers carry-over $1M unused cap space for 2019Although not necessarily news in its own right, the official numbers for cap rollover have been released by the NFLPA. With the 2018 league year all but over, each team is given the opportunity to elect how much of their unused cap space they will carry over into the 2019 season. It is customary for each team to accept 100% of the cap allocation, as it gives those teams more wiggle room for the coming year. The only negative to accepting the rollover would be that the team would be required to spend 89% of the total cap space. However, that 89% threshold is spread over a 4-year period, currently ending in 2020. With that sort of long-term sprucing possible Youth Nasir Adderley Jersey , there is effectively no downside to accepting the rollover. Unfortunately, the Chargers will only have an extra $1M to add to the 2019 cap. The 2018 salary cap was set at $177.2M, and the next cap could rise to around $191M if rumors are to be believed. Although they can clear additional space through cuts and trades, those are moves that will wait until the new league year that begins in March. The Chargers had an expensive team in 2018, and their cap rollover is no surprise. In fact, only two teams in the entire league will have less rollover than the Chargers will enjoy: The LA Rams ($466K) and the Kansas City Chiefs ($715K). The Indianapolis Colts lead the NFL with an absurd $110.8 million and the New York Jets are second with $93.8 million. The Brown are projected to be third in the league with over $82.4 million. These will be the heavy hitters in free agency, while the Chargers have little choice but to sit and watch the action from afar.-Jason “The Cap’n is on deck” Michaels
