BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Matt DAgostini and the last-place Buffalo Sabres caught Zdeno Chara and the Atlantic Division-leading Boston Bruins by surprise Wednesday night. After squandering a 3-1 lead, the Sabres rallied for two goals in the span of 75 seconds to steal away a 5-4 overtime victory. DAgostini sealed it by outracing a flat-footed Chara to a loose puck and scoring on a partial breakaway 22 seconds into the extra period. Forcing the turnover at the Bruins blue line, DAgostini managed to shift the puck from his forehand to his backhand and slip a shot in under Chad Johnsons pad. "I could tell (Chara) didnt know Id be coming up from behind him. I think he just thought he had time to go back and retrieve the puck," DAgostini said. "I heard their bench screaming. I tried a little sneak attack on him in there, so it was good that I got by him." Matt Moulson forced overtime by scoring with 53 seconds left in regulation. Brian Flynn had a goal and assist, while Tyler Myers and Zemgus Girgensons also scored for Buffalo. It was a big win for Sabres backup goalie Jhonas Enroth, who stopped 29 shots and snapped an 0-10-4 skid to improve to 2-12-5 this season. "That felt very nice to get a win finally again," said Enroth, who also won for the first time in 12 home starts, dating to a 3-1 victory over Tampa Bay on April 14 of last season. "Ive had these kind of games go against me, so it was nice to have one of these for me." Chara, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand and Chris Kelly scored for the Bruins (37-16-5) in their first game after the NHLs two-week Olympic break. The Sabres (17-34-Cool at least had the benefit of having opened the break with a 3-2 win over Carolina on Tuesday night. The Bruins had been off since a 7-2 win against Ottawa on Feb. 8, and featured five players -- including Chara -- still dealing with the effects of jetlag after competing at the Sochi Games. "I thought offensively, I didnt mind our game," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "You score four goals, you should win those kind of games. But certainly, we were definitely rusty defensively." That was particularly the case on DAgostinis goal. "I think (Chara) was surprised," Julien said. "But definitely we should have that puck." Boston is still 8-1-3 in its past 12, and hasnt lost in regulation in seven straight road games (4-0-3). The game featured several swings of momentum, with Buffalo building a 3-1 lead when Flynn scored 9:10 into the second period. The Bruins stormed back. Chara scored 2:25 later by stuffing in a rebound for a power-play goal during a scramble in front. Marchand then tied it at 3 with 2:14 left in the frame, and was set up by teammate Reilly Smith, who stripped the puck from Buffalo forward-turned-defenceman John Scott in the right corner. Boston then appeared to take control when Lucic made it 4-3 by scoring a power-play goal with 10:17 left. The Sabres responded with Moulsons goal. With Enroth pulled for an extra attacker, Moulson got the puck in the right corner of the Bruins end. In attempting to feed a pass to Drew Stafford in front, the puck hit off the skate of Bruins defenceman Johnny Boychuk. Moulson got to the loose puck and stuffed it in. "Its tough to not get that feeling of, Its the Boston Bruins, theyre back in the game now," DAgostini said. "But we kept playing. We defended. We got big saves from Jhonas, which was huge, and we ended up gutting one out." Enroth got the start a day after Ryan Miller made 36 saves and also added two assists against Carolina. Enroth, who returned to Buffalo on Monday, was backup to Sweden starter Henrik Lundqvist at Sochi. Buffalo won consecutive games for only the third time this season, and first since Dec. 17-19. NOTES: Sabres C Tyler Ennis did not play due to undisclosed soreness. ... By scoring the winner against Carolina with 44 seconds left, Christian Ehrhoff became the Sabres first defenceman to score the go-ahead goal in the final minute of the third period. ... The Bruins went with Johnson, who stopped 21 shots. Johnson started in place of Tuukka Rask, who remained in Boston to refresh after returning from Sochi, where he helped Finland beat the United States for the bronze medal Saturday. Stitched Heat Jerseys . Wilson hit Schenn from behind during Tuesday nights game in Philadelphia, earning a five-minute major for charging and a game misconduct. He has a phone hearing with the department of player safety, which limits any potential suspension to five or fewer games. Tyler Herro Jersey . The Maple Leafs will play on the road for the first time this season after dropping home contests to Montreal and Pittsburgh to begin the campaign. After losing a one-goal decision to the Canadiens on Wednesday, they were bested 5-2 on Saturday by the Penguins. https://www.cheapheatonline.com/. "I only want to go through this one more time," Crosby said Friday. The 24-year-old captain hasnt played since the symptoms resurfaced following a loss to Boston on Dec. 5. Doctors allowed him to return to full practice on Tuesday and while Crosby is pleased with the way his body is responding he refuses to put on his return. Dion Waiters Jersey .C. -- The Edmonton Oilers used a late-power-play goal to get a hard-fought road victory. Willie Burton Jersey . -- Cam Newton pranced into the end zone, placed his hands over his chest and did his familiar Superman pose.Spokane, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Seeking their 20th win of the season, the third-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs take on visiting Pacific on Saturday in West Coast Conference action at the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Bulldogs, who trail only undefeated Kentucky and Virginia in the Associated Press Poll this week, were pitted against their toughest conference foe on Thursday night, the Saint Marys Gaels. Entering the bout with a WCC mark of 7-0, the Gaels figured to give Gonzaga a real test, but it wasnt even close as the Bulldogs ran away with a 68-47 home win. After 20 games, the only loss for Gonzaga was a 66-63 overtime affair versus third-ranked Arizona in Tucson back on Dec. 6. Since then, the Bulldogs have rattled off 12 consecutive victories. The team owns the nations longest home winning streak at 35 in a row. The Tigers are an even 10-10 on the campaign after dropping four of the last five outings in conference play. The program was in action just two nights ago at Portland and was turned away in a 72-69 final. With a mark of 2-6 versus the rest of the WCC, Pacific finds itself tied with San Diego for next-to-last in the standings heading into the weekend. In terms of the all-time series, the Bulldogs have won all but one of the previous six encounters, losing a 70-60 decision back in 1977. Gonzaga has won three straight since then, posting a pair of victories in 2014. The largest lead of the game for Portland on Thursday night came in the second half, but the team needed a 3-pointer by Alec Wintering in the waning moments to break a 69-69 tie and provide the margin of victory versus Pacific. The Tigers had four players score in double figures in the setback, with Dulani Robinson coming up with 17 points off the bench. David Taylor tacked on 13 points, T.J. Wallace a double-double consisting of 11 points and 10 boards and Eric Thompson a double-double of his own with 10 points and a team-best 11 rebounds, to go along with three blocked shots.dddddddddddd Wallace leads the team in both scoring and rebounding after 20 games, producing 13.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest, not to mention handing out 2.7 apg which makes him an all-around threat whenever he gets his hands on the ball. Robinson accounts for another 10.4 ppg, but his 36.0 percent shooting from the field still leaves a lot to be desired for a program that is netting 66.4 ppg, but giving up almost an identical number (66.3 ppg). The meeting with the Gaels was close after 20 minutes of play on Thursday night, with Gonzaga ahead by just six points at intermission. But then the hosts broke it wide open in the second half in order to cruise to the comfortable victory. Kevin Pangos led the way with 14 points and five assists, followed by Przemek Karnowski and Kyle Wiltjer with 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Domantas Sabonis accounted for 13 rebounds to give the Bulldogs a 36-28 edge on the glass. Defensively, Gonzaga held the Saints to just 2-of-15 shooting behind the 3-point line and 36.0 percent from the floor overall. What makes the Bulldogs such an exemplary team is the fact that nearly anyone, given enough playing time can lead the team in scoring on any given night. In the last four outings, the team has had a different top scorer each time out, but overall the squad still looks to Wiltjer and his 16.3 ppg to shoulder much of the load. Pangos, responsible for 12.6 ppg, has been tasked with keeping the offense on track, having handed out 100 assists in 20 starts. Against SMC, Gonzaga came up short of the 81.2 ppg the squad is currently putting up, but at the same time the tally by the Gaels was also considerably lower than the 60.8 ppg being surrendered by the Bulldogs.
